Bike Transport and
Airport transfers
Update
20.1.2012: Fuel price rises mean this is no longer
available at the price shown. We can still offer
airport transfers if some of you party want to fly
in
(contact
us).
We can arrange grouped transport
for your bikes (and riding gear) from anywhere in
mainland UK (single collection point) to Cherveix
Cubas and airport transfers for you from Limoges and
Bergerac airports for around £200 per person/bike.
There are a number of flights into Limoges and
Bergerac daily from several UK airports. The main
carriers are
Ryan Air and
Flybe who often have return flights available
for less than £50. This may well be the least
expensive way to get your bike and yourself here.
Airport transfers are about 1 hour each way - for
more information please
contact us.
Trail riding day
On Day One there will be a briefing
at 8.30a.m. which will explain the schedule and how we
ride as a group to stay together. It may be stating
the obvious but past experience tells me that it's
essential to lay down some basic rules.
Trail rides normally start at
9.00am. The distance we ride in the day varies but
we aim to ride for about 7 hours although most routes are
easily shortened or lengthened to suit. We aim to
stop for lunch at about 12.30pm and re-fuel at the
same time. You decide if
you'd prefer a restaurant lunch (allow €12 to €15)
or just a quick sandwich eaten in the woods. We plan to arrive back between 5 and 5.30 pm
having filled up with fuel for the following day.
After-ride refreshments are included, normally a
beer or cup of tea and some light snacks. After some time
to relax and clean up (or do some maintenance) dinner is served at
around 7.30 pm.
Your Bike, Riding
Gear and Riding in France
Please ensure that your bike is
well prepared, reasonably silenced and the tyres are
in good condition and have sufficient life in them
to last the duration of the holiday.
Your bike will need to be road
legal and, as the very minimum, please ensure the
lights and brake light work and the tyres are a road
legal type. You need to carry your registration and insurance documents and driving licence with you at
all times when driving in France and you should have
your headlight on when driving on the road.
Minimum riding gear you will need
is
boots, crash helmet, body armour, knee protectors,
gloves, eye protection and, ideally,
waterproof jacket and trousers. A camelbak rucksack
with a supply of drinking water and space to carry
some food and spares would be handy.
As a group you should carry
some spare inner tubes and the means to remove the
wheels (on all the bikes), change and inflate a
punctured tyre. Everyone should carry a few basic tools and
repair items such as insulating tape, wire, cable
ties,
spare fuses and a spark plug.
